The Realities of Being a Virtual Assistant

Being a virtual assistant might seem like an easy task. You might think you can just wake up 10 to 15 minutes before starting to work, wear pajamas or any comfortable clothes, grab your coffee and snacks to stay awake during graveyard shifts (American time), and work from the most comfortable spot in your house. But guess what? Being a virtual assistant takes a lot of learning, training, multitasking, and more.

In the fast-paced world of the virtual assistant industry, there's a huge amount of competition, not just here in the Philippines, but all over the world. So, being a virtual assistant is not as easy as you might think. You need to be well-equipped with skills, tools, creativity, courage, determination, perseverance, integrity, and much more. While this might sound daunting, take it as a challenge. Who benefits from learning every day? No one else but you.

Of course, it's normal to feel overwhelmed with tasks or to feel isolated due to a lack of social interaction. It happens. It's all about how you manage your work-life balance. Treat yourself, talk to your family and friends, and hang out once in a while. You can even work while traveling. Imagine having a vacation but still being able to work as long as you have an internet connection and a laptop! Life is short. Enjoy working, don't stress too much, and learn how to balance your time.

As a solo parent of three and a virtual assistant, the best part for me is enjoying time with kids while working from home.
